Hi, welcome to the personal website of Dr Xuxin Mao (毛旭新)
I am the Head of Research at the Bank of China, based in London, focusing on the EMEA markets. I am also an affiliated researcher at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and University College London (UCL). While wealth creation is at the core of my work, I aspire to create a fairer and greener world where AI is the engine and humanity is the enabler.
I have lived in Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the UK. Over the past two decades, I have studied economics, finance, and mathematics in five countries and worked as an academic researcher, Big Data forecaster, investment banker, start-upper, think tank economist, and university lecturer.
I am skilled in econometrics, AI, and big data analytics and enjoy modelling and forecasting global economies. I use big and alternative data for real-time economic and social trend prediction. I have developed an innovative method called the Topic Retrieved, Uncovered and Structurally Tested (TRUST) methodology for Big Data analysis and trend prediction for academic and practical purposes. Various research councils have funded my research, which has been incorporated into the UK's official national statistics. My work has been published in Nature Series journals and featured by the BBC, NBC, The Times, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, Xinhua, and many others.
In my younger years, I was my high school's 5K race champion in Shandong, China, for three consecutive years. I was also the leader of the Renmin University of China Orienteering Team, which ranked among the top 5 of 81 professional teams in Beijing. I enjoy reading history, watching horse racing, and playing golf in my free time.
